Biological Therapies

Biological Therapies In Orthopaedics

Types of Biological treatment

Hyaluronic Acid

Exogenous hyaluronic acid (HA) acts as a lubricant and shock absorber, and is considered to have many other beneficial effects in the joint.
Several studies have shown that HA is able to provide pain relief and protect the cartilage by covering joint surfaces. High molecular weight HA helps treat conditions as osteoarthritis and other chondral lesions of the joints in a single treatment at outpatient hospital status.

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)

PRP injections is a autologous biological therapy that involves subtracting a patient’s blood and processing it to separate the plasma and cells which are then combined with protein, growth factor and other key vitamins that will stimulate the increase in white blood cells and induce faster healing. Centrifugation is accomplished with closed 4th generation systems which eliminates the risk of infections.

PRP injections are a treatment for aiding the regeneration of ligament and tendon injuries, connective tissue repair, and wound healing. The components used for the treatment are extracted from the patient’s own blood, making the procedure safe, which lasts 30-40 minutes in our office.

Stem cells – BMA (Bone Marrow Aspirate)

The use of bone marrow in clinical applications of regenerative medicine is based on the fact that the contents of the BMA (ancestral and nucleated stem cells, platelets, lymphocytes, cytokines, etc.) support the regeneration processes of tissues.

The application of biological bone marrow treatments can offer solutions to multiple musculoskeletal pathologies.
